Children in Crisis were established in 1993 in the UK to give children in some of the world’s poorest countries the education they need to help transform their lives.
Their vision - That all children receive the learning needed for their flourishing and wellbeing
Their mission - Where resources are few, where education is needed to heal the nation, and where it is too remote for others, our aim is to support children to read, write, think, pursue their life goals and contribute positively to their communities.
Children are at the centre of everything we do. Children in Crisis believe in a moral duty to protect and nurture the most vulnerable and dependent children in our society. Through education, they have a fairer chance in life, and above all, it allows them to flourish as a human being and to contribute positively to their families, and society.
Education has been called an inoculation against poverty and resurgent conflict. In many post-conflict situations, thousands who have missed out on schooling, are marginalised and too easily whipped up by dangerous leaders into new rounds of conflict. It is in these tough environments that children face major barriers to education and it is one of the reasons why Children in Crisis focus on politically unstable and conflict-affected countries.
